Julie is seeing success with our current Goal Streaks Challenge!
She is very busy with her blended family that includes 4 kids - ages 12, 13, 14 and 15! They are all very active in sports so she spends a lot of time cheering them on. She also works for a Swiss company doing Finance Project Management which requires international travel 5 or 6 times a year. She also enjoys traveling personally. She has been to Mexico, Paris and Colorado this year. This lady is on the go!
She has made efforts toward health and wellness for at least ten years, starting when she hit her thirties and realized her body was changing. She needed to be more aware of what she ate and to exercise regularly. She is a reluctant runner--she says she is "waiting for it to get easy"-- and enjoys the group classes at Fit By Burn. However, she has always gone in spurts. She does well for six months or a year and then falls off the wagon for a while. (Does this sound familiar-so many of us are in the same place!) Recently, she had been doing well and working out with Tara in the Be the Best You class for several months, but then hit a really crazy period with traveling for work, vacations, baseball and volleyball seasons with the kids and, on top of that, moving! She stopped working out, ate out almost every night and generally stopped taking care of herself.
When her good friend, Ann, told her about the Goal Streaks program, it was the wake-up call she needed to reprioritize and get "back on the wagon." This program is different from others the studio has run because it focuses on nutrition, exercise AND spiritual/mental well-being habits, requiring consistency and tracking of each! The program has been great to keep her consistent and accountable. She lost almost 4 pounds the first week and although the weight hasn't continued to drop off that quickly, she feels healthier and stronger and is excited to get to the gym again!
Julie's advice for others who are embarking on, or restarting, their wellness journey: Find something you enjoy doing to get fit - it shouldn't be torture! Find people you enjoy doing it with - the time goes much faster with a group of people that you can talk with and who expect you to show up! Write things down to keep yourself accountable. Julie has found success with My Fitness Pal
Julie has also enjoyed the support from Tara before and during this challenge. She has appreciated how Tara talks with her classes about nutrition, including meal planning, ideas for snacks/meals and drinking enough water (tough for Julie!) Tara also pushes her to do a little more than she would if she were by herself, like using 15lb dumbbells instead of the 10s or 12s.
Congratulations, Julie, on finding success in moving toward your health and wellness!
