What does this word mean to you? As I prepare for a quick trip to Colorado to celebrate my grandparent’s 70th wedding anniversary, I think of the commitment that they made to each other all those years ago. But what did it really mean? Did it mean that they never strayed? Did it mean that they supported each other in all of their endeavors? Did it mean that promised to take care of each other? From my point of view, the answer to all of those questions is YES!!
But what does the word commitment mean to you when it comes to health? Are you only committed to exercise and eating right until you reach that weight loss goal? Are you only committed until you participate in that activity you are training for? Are you only committed because we are having a challenge at the studio?
Whatever the answer is for you, remember that you deserve any and all commitments that you make to yourself to keep YOU healthy!!! And, yes, there will be days when that commitment is trying and seems like it would just be easier to quit. And, there will be times when you may “mess it up.” But, just like in all relationships, you have to forgive yourself and learn from the experience. You keep on going and recommit to doing what it takes to keep you on track.
Don’t be afraid to commit to yourself. Surround yourself with like minded people--people who will support your commitments, people who will be your cheerleader. That is what makes our programs at Fit By Burn so unique. We are all there to help one another stay accountable for our commitments.
