Although Jerilynn played sports high school, Jerilyn has hated exercise ever since. When her friend, Jennifer, invited her to start Burn 30 classes together with the promise that "It' s only half an hour!" she decided to give it a try. She loved it and is now going 4 times a week! And, she has added a day of running to her routine!
She really enjoys that Fit by Burn is very close to her home and she can go with her friend who keeps her accountable!
Going to Burn 30 classes is now the easy part, because it's become a habit for her, but, like many of us, Jerilyn still struggles with finding the right balance with food. She calls herself a carbohydrate addict! She is working hard to regulate her intake but is tempted by her love of dark chocolate and good beer. She is motivated by the idea that she doesn't want all of her hard work at the Burn 30 to be for nothing.
Jerilyn appreciates that Tara talks to her class quite a bit about eating/nutrition during stretching after Burn 30 on Monday nights. Tara has really encouraged her to eat good carbs as a part of lunch, then try to stay away from them and focus on protein and veggies with dinner. This is now Jerilyn's goal. She also appreciates Nalissa's down to earth and update approach in morning classes.
Jerilyn's advice for others who are on their own wellness journey is: Find exercise that you ENJOY. If you don't want to do it alone, find someone who will begin this journey with you. Try to be mindful about your eating. Awareness alone makes a huge difference.
Jerilyn has been even more motivated by the results she got at her annual wellness assessment for her employer. She found out that she is down ten pounds from where this time last year AND her cholesterol and blood pressure are both lower. Seeing that she is making real changes to her health feels great!
