Happy New Year!! It is hard to believe we are at the beginning of a new year. A new year is just that for many people. It is a time to create new habits, to set new goals, or for some to just start over. I have read all sorts of resolutions in social media but there was one that just really captured my thoughts. It said, “To clean up my grocery shopping.” I think that is a simple, yet attainable, goal which can lead to great benefits to anyone who lives in that house. It is a little vague and makes me wonder what exactly the author means. Is it, I need to eat “clean”? Is it, "I need to spend less money?" Or is it a combination of both? I took it as both. If you clean out the “junk” in your grocery list, therefore, not even having tempting items in the pantry, you will eat cleaner. When you are eating cleaner, you are not buying soda, cookies, chips, etc. and that will save you money.
I know there is some argument here on whether or not clean eating is cheap—it is not! But it is money well spent on your improved health!!
So maybe an easy way to clean up our eating is to clean up our grocery shopping. Shop the aisles on the perimeter of the store and this, for the most part, will help you avoid all the tempting treats, except for the bakery.
