Have you noticed that we have been conditioned to think that there is something magical about a 60 minute workout? We “sell” massages in 60 minutes, training sessions in 60 minutes and teach fitness classes in 60 minutes. Guess what? It doesn't have to be this way! You are busy. You have a life. That life is stressful. Yes, you still need to exercise.
Have you also noticed the 30 minute HIIT workout trend is sweeping the nation? It’s super EFFICIENT and INSANELY effective. Why? If executed correctly, it is effective because it promotes a total body, high intensity, high caloric burn workout.
Let me warn you that not all 30 minute workouts are going to keep you fit. Check out these tips for finding the perfect 30 minute class for you!
1. You must have a total body experience in your 30 minute program. Single joint movements are OUT and multi-joint movements are IN. 2. The workout needs to have a fast paced feel, like you are being pushed to your personal max during the short time. 3. 30 minute classes need to be specific to your needs. Stations are great because you can move from station to station and work at your personal level within each station. 4. A certified personal trainer is essential to your 30 minute workout experience. The fast pace and sheer effort of the high intensity exercise calls for an expert who can help you modify, keep correct form, and help you prevent injury. Many 30 minute gyms simply have vague fitness certifications that are not reputable and trusted. 5. Strategic times. Early morning, lunch time, and post work day times are essential for you as the consumer to be successful at this workout model. The point is that the 30 minutes meets you where you are! 6. HIIT, High Intensity Interval Training. A great 30 minute workout must include bursts of very intense exercise with short periods of rest. 7. Strength Training. 30 minute workouts need stations or circuits when you push, pull, or lift the upper and lower body. 8. Stretching. Effective and safe 30 minutes programs should have a period of slow stretching at the conclusion of the workout.
We have created a strategic and intelligent 30 minute program at Fit by Burn. These are some of the things our friends are saying about our BURN 30 program.
Beth K.-"I love that it is only 30 minutes and at 4 pm. I can work, get my workout done and be home by five." Bridgett M.- "I love that it's only 30 minutes and that I can do it on my lunch hour. I also like that I can burn quite a few calories in a short period of time since the workout is so intense. The trainers really push us which I need, although I may not always like it. Luv you Mendy and Shelley!" Pammy N.- "Because it's offered at different intervals throughout the day, I can find a time slot that fits my schedule. It's a quick, killer workout that hits both upper and lower body, and I'm always happy with myself for going!" Claire P.- "It's only 30 minutes, so I can do it on my lunch hour and even though I don't want to do it some days, I feel great afterwards."
Don’t let that 60 minute time frame be your barrier (or excuse!) to getting in a great work out. You can be fit by exercising less than 60 minutes at a time. Just be sure you choose a program that makes the most of the time you spend!
